Yuli Sato graduated from Concordia University in 2013 with a BFA in Photography. She explores memory through photography and handmade books, sourcing from autobiographical imagery to evaluate isolation and conflicts between strength & fragility. Yuli has been published locally and internationally as well as exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Canada.
Outside of creating personal works, Yuli is passionate about promoting the arts utilizing both on- and offline platforms. She has spent nearly a decade running CUS Photo - a site which features young, up-and-coming photographers from around the world.
Her most recent project took the form of a micropress: MALFORM. Based in Calgary, Alberta the micropress focused on publishing local and international creative/critical writing and visual arts, as well as promoting community engagement and dialogue through multimedia events.
From March 2017 - 2018 Yuli was employed at the multi-award winning Time Out Bookstore in Auckland. She continued to photograph portraits and landscapes.in New Zealand and is working toward building a photographic series and printed work for late 2018.
